This shift is significant as recent advancements have dramatically reduced proof generation times, although has also exposed vulnerabilities in current designs. The foundation emphasizes that compromised proof systems pose risks to the entire Ethereum network. They introduced a three-stage roadmap to enhance security standards, concluding with a mandatory move to 128-bit provable security by the end of 2026.
